Talk about literature coming to life! Gabby suspects something is going on in the library at night, so she enlists the help of her best friend, Paige, to do some sleuthing. Together they hide in the library after it closes and discover that it’s haunted by a silent ghost who leads them to a book containing a cryptic poem. As Paige and Gabby decipher the poem, they find clues that enable them to bring fictional characters to life, starting with Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island. Jim helps them summon even more characters from other books and soon, the library is overrun with the denizens of literature — Humpty Dumpty, the Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland, Anne of Green Gables, Romeo, and others. Things are definitely out of hand, but they take a turn for the worse when — shiver me timbers! — Long John Silver is inadvertently brought to life. The pirate sets out on a thieving spree, and he’s not afraid to use his cutlass to get what he wants! It’s up to Paige, Gabby and Jim to defeat the pirate and return the characters to their stories before the library reopens. All that’s necessary for a happy ending is courage, ingenuity… and one more character brought to life.

Auditions – Haphazardly Ever After

Orrville Community Theater Rising Stars is pleased to announce Haphazardly Ever After.

Sign up for auditions here or walk in’s are welcome!

Directed by:
Co-Director – Kara Seiler
Co-Director: Angie Gilbert

Workshop cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each sibling in same family. Our Rising Stars workshops teach children about live theater. Starting with the audition process! Then students will learn terminology, how to project (without yelling!), ad-libbing, stage presence, and more! Students may take a role on stage or if being on stage isn’t their thing, come behind the curtain and learn about lighting, sound, costumes, props, stage managing and more!

Rehearsals will also be held at Christ United Church of Christ on Mondays from 6-8pm and Thursdays from 7-8:30pm beginning February 5th.
Our Rising Stars show will be on April 19th and 20th at 7pm and April 21st at 2:30pm at the Orrville High School Auditorium.

Synopsis:
A kind king and queen have trouble in their royal family — four obnoxious, bratty, adult children who do not live up to their royal titles. There’s the mean Princess Cinnamon, the not-so-bright Princess Peppermint, the vain Prince Hairgel, and Prince Slacker, who thinks being a prince is just way, way too hard. The king and queen try everything to bring happiness and harmony to their family. They hire a royal therapist, bring in royal teachers, and even attempt to marry off their children, all to no avail. The king and queen are ready for a happily-ever-after that doesn’t include adult children still living at home, so they call upon the fairy godmother to help. However, after learning the outrageous cost of hiring the fairy godmother (let alone the permits required), the king and queen decide to create a do-it-yourself magic spell with the help of supplies purchased at The Enchanted Depot. Royal chaos! Of course, nothing goes as planned, but everyone is changed by their experiences. And through a series of haphazard events, the royal family just might live happily ever after, after all.
