SUMMARY:The Light in the Library - Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Orrville Community Theater is excited to announce The Light in the Library! This will be a Rising Stars Workshop for ages 6-18. Sign-up for auditions here! Walk-ins are also welcome! \n \n \n\nAuditions are on May 10 from 6-8pm and May 11 from 11am-2pm at Christ United Church of Christ; and the Orrville Public Library on May 14 from 6pm-7:30pm. \n\nDirected by:\nDirector – Chelsea Alleman \nAssistant Directors: Annie & Dominic DiScipio \nWorkshop cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each sibling in same family. Our Rising Stars workshops teach children about live theater. \nRehearsals will be held at Christ United Church of Christ on Mondays from 6-8pm and Thursdays from 7-8:30pm beginning May 20. \nOur Rising Stars show will be on August 16-18 at Christ United Church of Christ. \n\nTalk about literature coming to life! Gabby suspects something is going on in the library at night\, so she enlists the help of her best friend\, Paige\, to do some sleuthing. Together they hide in the library after it closes and discover that it’s haunted by a silent ghost who leads them to a book containing a cryptic poem. As Paige and Gabby decipher the poem\, they find clues that enable them to bring fictional characters to life\, starting with Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island. Jim helps them summon even more characters from other books and soon\, the library is overrun with the denizens of literature — Humpty Dumpty\, the Mad Hatter\, Alice in Wonderland\, Anne of Green Gables\, Romeo\, and others. Things are definitely out of hand\, but they take a turn for the worse when — shiver me timbers! — Long John Silver is inadvertently brought to life. The pirate sets out on a thieving spree\, and he’s not afraid to use his cutlass to get what he wants! It’s up to Paige\, Gabby and Jim to defeat the pirate and return the characters to their stories before the library reopens. All that’s necessary for a happy ending is courage\, ingenuity… and one more character brought to life. \n\n

That was what Margo Daley always thought…until she is hired to do just that by the Peaceful Glen Memorial Players in their theater\, a renovated funeral home. They DO have a couple of conditions\, however. Margo has to make the play a melodrama\, so the audience will know when to throw the popcorn. And they can’t be too loud because the lady who lives under the theater bangs her cane on the stage. Oh\, and Margo has to insert the sponsors’ names into the play and\, by the way\, has to take place in the Old West. “And make sure the actors talk real loud because of all the noise the audience makes sucking their fingers\,” states one of the council members\, an occupational hazard brought about by them selling barbecue before the show. All kinds of eccentric characters come out of the woodwork in this riotous tribute to life on the community theater stage. Even the pizza delivery boy is given parts – several since Margo only has four actors to portray the five-act tragedy. Fast lines and even faster exits punctuate this farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actors find out what it’s like when they begin “Barbecuing Hamlet.” \nTime: The present. SUMMARY:Barbecuing Hamlet Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Auditions will be at Christ Church United Church of Christ\, 301 N. Main St.\, Orrville\, OH 44667. Click here to sign up. Walk-ins are also welcome. \nRehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday’s 6PM-8PM and then Monday\, Wednesday\, and Fridays 6PM-8:30PM beginning August 29th. \nShow Dates\n\nFriday\, September 23rd\, 2022 @ 7PM\nSaturday\, September 24th\, 2022 @ 7PM\nSunday\, September 25th\, 2022 @ 2:30PM\n\nWouldn’t it be great fun to direct William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”? Fast lines and even faster exits punctuate this farce as Margo and her troupe of misguided actors find out what it’s like when they begin “Barbecuing Hamlet.” \nFor actors ages 16+ \nCHARACTERS: \nMARGO DALEY: Smart but reluctant director\, in her 30s. \nSARGE ABBOTT: Handyman with sarcastic wit\, in his 50s. \nHOPE HALLIDAY: Snappish 40-year-old\, a bit overweight. \nDUNCAN O’TOOLE: In his 40s\, always has a story to tell. \nMARY BETH LUMPKIN: Mousy secretary in her late 20s \nTAMARA LOGAN: Council chairman\, chic woman\, mid-30s. \nHAL WEBSTER: Handsome leading man type\, 30s. \nLAMAR BENTORRES: An erratic\, inexperienced man\, 40s. \n ZOEY MARCUS: A no-nonsense type\, around 30. \nOPAL BELL: A lady with a lot of pent-up energy\, 35-ish. \nTHEODORA VAN HORNE: Theater type\, flamboyant\, 50s. \nBUDGIE SERATT: A young pizza delivery man\, early 20s. HARLEN DORTMUNGER: Fertilizer salesman and critic.
